World Lupus Day Approaching
Less than four weeks remain until the 2016 observance of World Lupus Day.  Is your lupus group ready to help spread awareness about lupus?   Remember that this year, in an effort to kick off the World Lupus Federation that has been put on tracks during our Vienna 2015 Convention, we have decided to work with our partners from all over the world on ONE, GLOBAL World Lupus Day campaign!

World Lupus Day Proclamation

Global Survey on Awareness of Lupus
The world’s first and largest-ever survey on global awareness of lupus was completed this week.  More than 16,000 people from 16 countries answered the six questions included in the survey.  The questions were created to measure public understanding of lupus.
 
Officials of GSK, the survey sponsor, will release the data and analysis to the World Lupus Federation on April 22.  The WLF will write a summary and news release after reviewing their presentation.  You will receive these documents in time for distribution on World Lupus Day. 
 
Initially, we will be able to provide data only for the total responses (all 16,000+).  Later, we will provide the data grouped by country (approximately 1,000 responses per country).  Additional information about the survey data will be provided in next week’s update.
 
World Lupus Day Video
Thank you everyone who submitted a video clip for the World Lupus Day video project.   We received more than 20 video clips.  We are working to create a video that features people with lupus from around the world.  Once it is completed, the video will be posted to the World Lupus Day website (worldlupusday.org) on or about May 1, ahead of  the May 10 World Lupus Day.  We will distribute a link to the video so you can share it on your own website and through your social media pages, such as on Facebook and Twitter. We appreciate all of the kind support and assistance that was provided for this project.  It is a great worldwide effort.
 
World Lupus Day Events
We are disappointed at the low number of World Lupus Day events that have been submitted for posting on the World Lupus Day website.  Please share information about any awareness, education or fundraising activity you will conduct between May 1 and May 20.  We will post the information to the World Lupus Day website so people around the world can see what activities are taking place to raise awareness and understanding about lupus.  Please share photos of your events after they take place so we can post them on our photo sharing website.  Use this link to post information about your events : https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/world-lupus-day-2016
