HGS and GSK: New lupus drug Benlysta meets primary endpoint

Human Genome Sciences, Inc. and GlaxoSmithKline Plc said on November 2, 2009, that Benlysta, or belimumab, met its primary endpoint in the second of its two pivotal Phase 3 trials in seropositive patients with systemic lupus erythematosus, or SLE. The companies plan to submit marketing applications in the first half of 2010, following discussions with regulatory authorities in the US, Europe and other regions.
